What personal data we collect
We collect only what we need to open and run your account, keep play fair, and meet the duties that apply to a licensed gambling business. The categories below cover what we hold.
Account and contact details
- Name, date of birth, residential address, e-mail address and mobile number.
- The username, password and security details you set for your account.
- Your currency, language and marketing preferences.
- The deposit limits, session reminders and time-outs shown in your account.
Identity and verification documents
Before a first withdrawal, and at other points while your account is open, we ask for documents that confirm who you are, your age and your address. These are usually photographic identification, a document showing your address and, where a payment needs confirming, a redacted statement for the method used. We also hold the outcome of electronic checks against public and credit reference records, which tell us whether your details match.
Transactions and play
- Deposits, withdrawals, pending payments and the method used, as shown in the cashier.
- Bonus activity, including wagering progress and any funds forfeited.
- Games opened, stakes placed, results returned and session length.
- Your contact with our team by live chat or e-mail, including the messages themselves.
Device and usage data
When you use the site we record technical information sent by your browser or app: IP address, the approximate location taken from it, device type, operating system, browser version and the pages you open. We also log sign-in attempts and active times, which helps us spot an account being used by somebody other than its holder.
Why we use your personal data
Every use below has a purpose we can explain and a lawful basis, which is set out in the next section.
- Running your account. Registering you, taking deposits, paying withdrawals, crediting winnings, applying bonuses and answering your questions.
- Verifying age and identity. Confirming that you are 18 or over and that the details you gave us are yours.
- Preventing fraud and money laundering. Checking payments, source of funds where it is required, and patterns that suggest an account has been taken over or shared.
- Meeting our legal duties. Keeping the records a licensed operator must keep and answering lawful requests from the authorities that supervise gambling and financial crime.
- Safer gambling. Applying the limits and time-outs you set, and acting on signs that play may be causing harm.
- Offers you opted into. Sending promotions and news through the channels you ticked, until you tell us to stop.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not pass it to other companies for their own marketing.
Adults only
Our site is for adults aged 18 and over. We check age at registration, and an account held by anyone under 18 is closed with stakes returned and winnings withheld. You can set a deposit limit, take a time-out or self-exclude from your account at any time.
The legal bases we rely on
UK GDPR requires a lawful reason for every use of personal data. In plain words, these are the reasons we rely on.
| What we do with your data | The legal basis in plain words |
|---|---|
| Opening and running your account, taking payments and paying out | We need it to carry out the contract between you and us |
| Age, identity and address checks, record-keeping and reporting | We have legal duties as a licensed gambling business and must comply with them |
| Fraud prevention, account security and site stability | It is in our legitimate interests to protect our customers and our business |
| Safer-gambling checks and the contact that follows them | A mixture of our legal duties and our legitimate interest in keeping play safe |
| Marketing by e-mail, SMS or push message | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we weigh what we want to do against your rights and proceed only where the use is one you would reasonably expect. We hold a gaming licence that requires us to verify accounts, so where a check cannot be completed we may have to hold a deposit or withdrawal until a member of our team has looked at it.
How long we keep your data
We keep your account data for as long as your account is open. After it closes, we keep what we must for the periods that gambling, anti-money-laundering, tax and accounting rules require, and then delete it or make it anonymous. Self-exclusion records are kept for the minimum period those rules set, because we have to be able to honour them.
Other items are held for shorter periods: chat transcripts, marketing records and technical logs are kept only while they serve the purpose we collected them for. We do not publish fixed periods here because they differ by record type, but we will tell you how long a particular record will be held if you ask.
Your rights, cookies and how to reach us
Data protection law gives you rights over the data we hold about you. These are the main ones and what each of them lets you ask us to do.
- Access. You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, together with an explanation of what we do with it and who we share it with.
- Correction. You can ask us to correct any detail that is wrong and to complete anything that is missing from your records.
- Erasure. You can ask us to delete personal data that we no longer have a lawful reason to keep.
- Restriction. You can ask us to pause a particular use of your data while a question you have raised about it is still open.
- Objection. You can ask us to stop a use of your data that we justify by our legitimate interests, and we will stop unless we can show stronger grounds to continue.
- Portability. You can ask us to send certain data to you, or directly to another provider, in a commonly used electronic format.
- Marketing. You can ask us to stop sending you marketing at any time, and we will act on that without asking you why.
Some rights have limits. We cannot delete records the law requires us to keep, and a self-exclusion cannot be lifted before the period you chose has run. Where we cannot do what you ask, we will say why.
To use any of these rights, write to support@casinomecca.co.uk or privacy@casinomecca.co.uk, or ask in the live chat on the site for your request to be passed on. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, so that we do not hand your data to someone else, and we answer within the time data protection law allows.
Cookies and similar technologies are covered separately in our Cookie Policy, which lists the categories we use, what each one does and how to change your choices at any time.
If you are not satisfied
Raise it with us first and we will look into it. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator for data protection, and doing so does not affect any other right you have. For help with gambling itself, GambleAware, GamCare and the National Gambling Helpline offer free, confidential support, and GamStop can block you from licensed online gambling sites in Great Britain.
